LEADERSHIP
A proud product of South Buffalo, NY – where his family’s roots go back to the mid 1800s – Dr. Ian M. Coyle is a graduate of Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School and later, St. Bonaventure University (BA, Political Science) and the University at Albany – SUNY (MPA, Public Management). He received his Doctorate in Public Administration with a specialization in Public Sector Management from Valdosta State University.
He is also an ICMA Credentialed Manager, an Executive Coach and Mentor, and a Certified e-Learning Instructor.
Ian is an accomplished pracademic having a 20+ year career in local government management, coupled with 17+ years of service in part-time teaching, coaching and course development assignments for various leading MPA programs all over the country.

BOARDS & VOLUNTEERING
He currently sits on the Boards of the Livingston County Land Bank Corporation and the Finger Lakes Area Counseling and Recovery Agency. He is also a member of the Friends of the Livonia Library group.
Ian volunteers with Braven as a Mentor and Mock Interviewer for first-generation college students and for many year gave his time as a coach for Livonia Youth Basketball / AAU. In 2022, he started the Next Local Government Leader program, a volunteer mentorship program for aspiring public administrators from historically underrepresented communities. He wrote about mentorship recently for ICMA’s Academic Matters.
